Accelerator Programme

Jamaica

The Accelerator Programme is designed to target high growth potential entrepreneurs whose businesses are ready to scale up. The programme is very fast-paced and intense and spans six (6) months. Fundamentally, it aims to identify, nurture, monitor and train Jamaican entrepreneurs with an overarching view of strengthening and increasing the global competitiveness of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). It utilizes the expertise and knowledge of JBDC's client interfacing departments as well as external partners such as mentors and advisors and is spearheaded by the Business Advisory Services (BAS) Unit of JBDC

Eligibility

Business must be operating in one of the following business sectors:
Animation
BioScience
Material Science
Software Development and Mobile Applications
Media And Communication
Industrial Design
Creative Industries
Agro-Processing
Manufacturing
Support Services

Business must be operating for a minimum of 6 months

Must be a registered enterprise that is at least 51% Jamaican owned

Must be willing to allow for monitoring and evaluation of enterprise for impact assessment up to 24 months after the close of the program

Must be willing to allow for the publishing of non-sensitive business information during and after the program for promotional purposes

Must have a management team with established roles

To be finally selected for the programme, the applicant must score an average of 50% on the application form

JBDC's organization provides Virtual Incubation where JBDC provides a kind of support to clients who have the size and capability to take advantage of this service format. This support consists of typically providing business advice, technical coaching and operational mentoring to clients.
MSMEs involved in the fashion & apparel industry, craft (particularly jewellery and leather-craft), those in food service and agro-processing are able to rent space on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. This affords users to access industry standard equipment and benefit from technical and management support.
